House Extensions: your questions answered
Do I need planning permission for an extension?
Many single storey extensions fall under permitted development, but it depends on size, position and whether the property has been extended before. We check this for you at the design stage and handle the application to South Lanarkshire Council or North Lanarkshire Council if one is needed.
How long does an extension take?
A typical single storey extension takes 8 to 12 weeks on site. Double storey and wraparound projects usually take 12 to 20 weeks. We give you a programme before we start and keep you updated every week.
Can we live in the house during the build?
Yes, in almost every case. We seal off the work area, keep the existing kitchen running for as long as possible and plan the breakthrough for a day that suits you.
